Ghost Dog: The way of the samurai

Tim Roche

Ghost Dog: The way of the samurai

Genre Films, Remakes, and Sequels

The movie as listed on IMDb is an action crime drama; the movie was in a way like a mob movie mixed with a rogue warrior film. It was a great combo and it fit perfectly in a modern day atmosphere, the movie used quotes from a book the main character was reading to help tell the story and to move the story forward. The film was like a mob movie because well the mob was in the movie and played a big role in making the main character who he was and what he would do. The rogue warrior aspect can in as you realized this guy had very little people close to him and would live secluded on top of a building with his birds. He had very little social interactions and was a mysterious guy. As with most rogue warriors they find a young child who share the same interests in that they do and in a way they both teach each other some things, and as I all those things the master dies and you see the child start to rise and meet there masters teachings.

This movie was a great watch and I really enjoyed it. Although what he was doing in the eyes of the law was wrong he kind of made up for it by not just being a crazed lunatic but just following a code that was made hundreds of years ago that hundreds had also followed. The movie was a great way to tell a story of basically a modern day samurai, even though not in the typical sense of a samurai. For a rating I will give this movie a 10/10

The Thin Blue Line

Tim Roche

The Thin Blue Line

Adaptations

The Thin Blue Line is a documentary staged around an innocent man's murder trial and its outcomes. The structure of the film consisted as like a TV show how they would have the people involved in the case be interviewed. Scenes where then reenacted to give the viewer a picture of what may of happened. The director adapted stories told by the people being interviewed into a movie, they took what the people could remember and what was written down, to draw pictures of what happened. If they were to reenact the whole night in which the documentary took place it would be took much so they summarized hours of time by having the person being interviewed tell what happened but only show signs and little blips.

The movie was okay it felt like I was watching a TV show, I personally don't like crime investigation shows. The use of news articles was pretty cool and it helped paint the picture of what life was like when this case was happening. This movie although boring at points, could at others keep me watching, it is also good to see both sides and i felt as though the director did a very good job. I would rate this movie at 5/10.
